This concert included the first performance of a new piece, commissioned by the Bristol Phoenix Choir, by local composer Mark Lawrence. His new composition, on a theme of reconciliation, sets Siegfried Sassoon's poem Everyone suddenly burst out singing alongside recollections of the Christmas truce in 1914. The concert also featured the beautiful singing of Sam Adams-Nye, Radio 2 Young Chorister of the Year 2005, as well as Czech carols and a breathtaking improvisation on a Christmas theme by Anthony Hammond.
