This is going to be an incredible programme featuring Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna, Schubert’s Mass in G, Brahms's Geistliches Lied, and settings of Ave Verum by Mozart and Mawby.

Lauridsen's Lux Aeterna is a requiem, but unlike the better-known requiems by the likes of Verdi and Mozart, Lauridsen’s work is a tranquil, light-filled piece. This serene work by a modern American composer possesses an elusive, indefinable quality that leaves the listener with the impression that all the questions have been answered.
 

Schubert’s Mass in G is a masterpiece of pure, lyrical melody written in just six days when he was only 18. It was originally written for a small local parish church in Vienna, giving it an incredibly intimate, tender, and deeply emotional feel rather than a booming, dramatic one.
